A welcome reissue of 'The Grimm Robe Demos' by Sunn O))) on Southern Lord. This was originally released in a limited run of 700 CDs on Hydrahead and then followed more recently with a picture-disc edition. Both have been well sought after since and have been the stuff of ebay legend. This reissue comes repackaged and remastered by John Weise (Bastard Noise, Sissy Spacek etc.) and featuring a bonus track exclusive to this reissue, 'Grimm and Bear It', a live recording of the Grimm Robes lineup from 1999. For those unfamiliar The Grimm Robe Demos were the very first recordings (circa 1998) made by the core Sunn O))) line-up of O'Malley (Khanate), Anderson (Goatsnake) and accompanied by Bootsy Kronos (Burning Witch) on bass. These recordings were the birth of the Earth 2 inspired "bestial riffing and unholy drone" sound that we all know and love. Absolutely the rawest most bleak Sunn O))) recordings available.
